I'm Addison: lover of syllables, grumping, coffee, corgis, and naps.
Yo!
I'm really bad at "about me" sections, and my life has totally taken a new turn and I haven't completely found my bearings. So writing a new about me section got reallll introspective and too philosophical for a Saturday night. For now here are some things you need to know:
1. I married my best friend Jeff the summer of 2017 in Vegas. We originally got engaged October of 2016, and planned for a winter wedding December of 2017, but plans changed (more on that later). Eloping was the best decision we ever made. I struggle with anxiety and large crowds of people looking at me puts me into stress mode extreme. So having a small ceremony was absolutely perfect. I was able to remember every detail of it, and had so much fun. I am able to look back and I got married while laughing, which means more to me than anyone will know.
2. I gave birth to my daughter Arlandria Clementine Eileen Degginger in November of 2017. I was knee deep in wedding planning (complete with a wedding dress purchase) when I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant. Needless to say, all wedding plans went out the window. It wasn't a hard decision to make, either. Once we realized that we were going to be parents, nothing else mattered. Picking flowers and a DJ seemed trivial and unnecessary.
3. I am an elementary school librarian for a PK-6th grade school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I LOVEEEE my job. A lot of people still view librarians as people to check out books and master the art of scowling. While it is true that I do both of those things, there is so much more to my job. I teach student information literacy skills. I get them involved in makerspace activities. I introduce them to new types of literature, and books that may not know otherwise. I teach research skills and coding. I make rockstar poster board displays and try to banish the ideas that libraries should be quiet. Libraries should be loud and messy, because that is exactly what people are: loud, creative, and messy.
I started this blog because now that I am a mom time moves at lightening speed. I feel like it is already slipping away from me and I barely have a grasp on what it means to be a mother. I want to document everything I can so I am able to look back and remember it all....or show my daughter someday that her mother was just as crazy as people say she is.
